The Truth About Recovery And Consistency
So after my long weekend, I'm at home relaxing at the dinner table after my morning run. I find myself thinking a lot about this blog and where I want it to go.
To all of my fellow recovering addicts out there I want to say this... running or movement in general is such a healing power!
After my first attempt to quit drinking, I realized something, I needed healthy replacements: Running, exercise, and self-improvement. That helped me calm the anxiety that comes with recovery. The skills I lacked were discipline and consistency, which I still struggle with to this day.
I will exercise, post on my blog, read self-help books and posts for a few days and then nothing. That is a momentum killer! Now to keep the momentum going, I make sure every morning... I help my wife get the kids ready for school at 6:30 and then I'm off. 2 miles each day, even when I don't feel up to the task.
So back to the original thought on today's post... I want this blog to be about consistency and dedication. I want people to follow along with my journey; I want you to test the methods I provide and of course comment how they work for you
. While doing so help me stay accountable, not just for posting but also sticking to my own methods... I mean how would it look if I don't "practice what I preach" right?
I hope everyone is having a blessed day! Also, if you have recovery habits that have helped you, please feel free to give me some new ideas.
